5.06kW Solar Electric System
Innovative Power Systems installed this 5.06kW solar electric system in Minneapolis in 2010. The owners wanted a system that maximized their roof potential and offset as much of their electric usage as possible. IPS expects the system will produce over 6,000kWh per year of electricity, well over 100% of the total electric usage of the house. Producing 6,000kWh of electricity annually from coal emits about 12,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Preventing this much carbon dioxide from being released to the atmosphere is equivalent to adding 600 trees to our forests. Over a 30-year span, IPS expects this system will offset 360,000 pounds or 180 tons of carbon dioxide.
