BI of Edina, MN was interested in showcasing green improvements but unfortunately the roof structure was unable to support an array of any kind. IPS solved the issue by engineering an awning system to mount on the side of the building similar to the system we installed at the Green Institute.
The 9.84kW solar electric system produces about 12,000kWh of electricity on average per year. Producing 12,000kWh of electricity annually from coal emits about 24,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Preventing this much carbon dioxide from being released to the atmosphere is equivalent to adding 1,200 trees to our forests. Over a 30-year span, IPS expects this system will offset 720,000 pounds or 360 tons of carbon dioxide.
