Fargo Waste Transfer Station
Innovative Power Systems installed this 10kW Bergey wind turbine and 4kW solar electric system in Fargo, North Dakota in 2007 for the Fargo Waste Transfer Station. The systems produces about 20,000kWh of electricity on average per year. Producing 20,000kWh of electricity annually from coal emits about 40,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Preventing this much carbon dioxide from being released to the atmosphere is equivalent to adding 2,000 trees to our forests. Over a 30-year span, IPS expects this system will offset 1,200,000 pounds or 600 tons of carbon dioxide.
