Quality Bicycle Products
Solar panels were one of many green features incorporated into the new LEED certified Quality Bicycle Products facility in 2007. Innovative Power Systems installed this 40kW solar electric system in Bloomington, Minnesota as the crown jewel on one of the first LEED certified buildings in the state. The system produces about 50,000kWh of electricity on average per year. Producing 50,000kWh of electricity annually from coal emits about 100,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Preventing this much carbon dioxide from being released to the atmosphere is equivalent to adding 5,000 trees to our forests. Over a 30-year span, IPS expects this system will offset 3,000,000 pounds or 1,500 tons of carbon dioxide!
