Innovative Power Systems installed this solar hot water system in 2010 in Hastings, Minnesota, for the owners of an Alpaca farm. (5) 4’x10’ Solar Skies solar thermal collectors are mounted on a custom-designed steel support structure and heat a 120- gallon solar storage tank. The solar storage tank provides solar preheated water for a standard electric water heater. The hot water is then used for the farm’s basic hot water needs. The system offsets about 400 therms of natural gas per year.
