Solar Thermal Space Heating Minneapolis
Solar was incorporated as a major part of this 2010 remodeling project in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (9) 4’x7’ Solar Skies solar thermal collectors heat (2) 120-gallon solar storage tanks. The solar heated- water in the storage tanks provides preheated water for the backup water heater and space heating. The house is heated via radiant in-floor heating. During the heating season, when there is enough heat in the solar storage tanks, they provide hot water for the radiant floors. When there is not enough heat in the solar storage tanks, a back-up boiler provides the space heating needs of the house.
